Imperial Male Variation

These are both male. Pattern and color varies widely among males in the local central Texas populations, particularly on the upper hindwing.

Throughout their brood peaks, males were abundant in western Hays and Comal counties of Texas, but females were rare. My observation was that flourescent lights of rural businesses left on overnight were far more attractive to the moth than were my sodium sources.
